Karen from IPC came into Navitas Professional Centre on 11th Feburary morning to provide us information about internship. She mainly talked about the requirements that were needed to be eligible to commence the internship and general aspects during the internship.

I learned a cascade of the essentials which need to be completed to be eligible for the internship. First of all, I must have completed all of the Navitas Professional and ACS assessments before Navitas can start to arrange job interview for me. Karen also spoke about general processes of the interview, including be prepared to face to face and phone interview as well as be ready to answer technical questions. In addition to this, she highlighted that do not over qualify the personal skills and technical skills in the resume or in the interview.
Apart from that, Karen said that it is the bottom line to be punctual and to have a full attendance for the three months’ internship. Besides, Navitas only requires 70% of the work to be related to the employees’ degree. This indicates there will be work that are not relevant to my degree and I am supposed to complete it with high quality. Last but not least, the employer is looking for a candidate who is proactive and willing to mix with team and also embrace the company culture.
This means I will need to be dedicated and put my best efforts in order to finish all the work from Navitas and ACS to start internship on time. It suggests me to be ready to any form of interview and I should review the IT knowledge learned in university, especially related to the job descriptions. I will practice technical skills so that I can complete the potential interview assessment. Besides, I will be honest and realistic with my resume and the employer can have high expectations that I can struggle to achieve if I over qualify myself.
Furthermore, being punctual and having a full attendance for the internship is a common sense but also important to create a positive impression to the host company. I will research and will obtain knowledge about what other work I may be required to do outside my degree as well. In the end, I will need to put full effort not only to the internship work, but also I will try my best to get along well with my colleagues while mixing with the company culture.
